Saudi Arabia Allocates $1.5 Billion to Strengthen AI Infrastructure Through Partnership with Groq
Saudi Arabia has announced a significant $1.5 billion investment in Groq, a Silicon Valley-based AI startup, to enhance its AI inference infrastructure. The partnership, unveiled during LEAP 2025, Saudi Arabia’s flagship technology event, underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to building an AI-powered economy as part of its ambitious Vision 2030 initiative.
Strengthening AI Capabilities in the Middle East
The investment builds on Groq’s prior accomplishments in Saudi Arabia, including rapidly deploying the Middle East’s largest AI inference cluster in December 2024. The cluster was installed in just eight days, reflecting the growing global demand for advanced AI computing capabilities. Operated from a data center in Dammam, Groq provides cutting-edge AI inference services through its GroqCloud™ platform.
Key Highlights from LEAP 2025
At LEAP 2025, Groq CEO Jonathan Ross joined forces with Saudi Aramco CTO Ahmad O. Al-Khowaiter and Tareq Almin to showcase the transformative potential of AI technology. They demonstrated real-time applications of large language models (LLMs), including Allam, Saudi Arabia’s locally developed AI model, and advanced text-to-speech models in both English and Arabic. These demonstrations illustrated the practical applications of AI in addressing the needs of the region and beyond.
Jonathan Ross expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “It’s an honor for Groq to be supporting the Kingdom’s 2030 vision. We are excited to work alongside Saudi innovators to shape the next chapter of AI.”
