ChatGPT pricing: a guide for marketing teams
Quick answer
ChatGPT costs depend on the subscription, billing arrangement and usage a marketing team needs. Compare the current plan price with the cost of checking work, preparing source material and managing access, alongside the number of drafts the team can actually use.
ChatGPT prices at a glance
The following US-dollar prices were checked against OpenAI’s documentation on 30 September 2026. Local pricing and taxes may differ. Annual rates require annual billing; they are not month-to-month prices. Business offers Standard and Premium seats.
| Plan | Price | Billing basis |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Free access with limits |
| Go | $8 | Per month in the US |
| Plus | $20 | Per month |
| Pro | $100, $200 or $500 | Per month, depending on tier |
| Standard seat | $20 annual rate; $25 monthly | Per seat per month |
| Premium seat | $100 annual rate; $125 monthly | Per seat per month |
| Enterprise | Contact sales | Contracted price |

Subscriptions and API usage are separate
A ChatGPT subscription pays for access under that plan. It does not include usage billed to an OpenAI API account. A marketing application built on the API therefore needs a separate estimate for model usage, development and maintenance.
Additional credits can also affect the subscription budget. Check which features can use them, who can buy them and which spending controls apply. Do not estimate the cost of an integration by multiplying the price of a personal subscription.
What a three-person team would pay
For example, three Business Standard seats cost $75 per month on monthly billing. At the annual rate, the equivalent is $60 per month, or $720 for the year. Those figures cover seats only, before applicable taxes and additional usage.
Then add the time spent preparing source material, reviewing claims and administering access. Compare the complete cost with the number of approved briefs or other useful outputs. Counting every generated draft overstates value when many drafts need substantial repair.
Buy for the workflow
Higher allowances matter when a team regularly reaches a limit during useful work. Shared administration matters when people join or leave, or when access to connected information needs managing. These are separate reasons to choose a plan.
Use a structured marketing AI pilot to evaluate a representative campaign week before committing. Record interruptions, review time and accepted output, then compare the cost with the existing process. Recheck prices and allowances at renewal.
